THIS WEEK'S FEATURE

AFRICA LEADING THE CHARGE TO COMBAT RACISM

In the days leading up to the Conference on Racism in Durban, South Africa, which begins Friday, August 31, 2001, many governments globally have been up in arms. America, has complained and threatened to boycott the Conference because of issues that deal with Israel/Palestine and reparations with apology for African slavery. Monday, Colin Powell, the highest ranking "African American" in the Bush administration, followed through with the threat and announced he will not attend the Conference. The stance America has taken seems to have rubbed shoulder to shoulder with Europe and India. Europe is in solidarity with the American reasons for boycotting. India, on the other hand, does not want its "caste system" brought to the International discussion table. These countries protest have brought great lessons not only to their own citizens but to everyone in the International community.

These nations protest has only brought embarrassment to themselves. How can they speak of liberty for all when it still refuses to assist in the healing process of humanity, especially when American and European history prove they are the people who created the word 'racism' and its meaning. Now they refuse to "kill the goose that laid the golden egg" and let justice have her way. It should also be noted that this Conference has even pitted brother against brother on both sides. There are Black intellectuals that agree with Colin Powell's decision to denounce reparations by not attending the Conference. This action has provoked many Blacks to question themselves and their leaders. It seems the controversy has only just begun.

On a positive point of view, it is joyful to know that the continent of Mother Africa in the 21st century has opened herself to help the World come to grips with their ill-treatment of "her," who gave birth to all. Though a few try to discredit this Conference, it has already proved itself worthy in the eyes of the people. Africa (the 'victim') now becomes Africa (the 'merciful') by holding this Conference and proving to the World her commitment to peace and love on the Earth. When those who willfully destructed her growth still refuse in the 21st century to stand on the side of right only give the words, "Until the philosophy which holds one race superior to another, is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned. Everywhere there will be WAR!"

SOVEREIGN NATIONS FIGHT AGAINST ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT

Though the headline news in general have been about things that matter not to life, the close of the UN Summit on Racism has opened the door to new thought. Through the mass media in the US, the conference was made to sound as the Anti-Israel event. The media went as far as labeling the countries that participated as racist countries looking to build a racist doctrine. The discussions about Israel and Palestine overtook a majority of the meeting. The issues of reparations for Black Africans stolen in the "triangular trade" were literally put on the back burner.

It leads to the next question: Was the meeting derailed before it started? The RasTafarI Collective has been reporting for months the descending arguments against the UN and this meeting. The US Government and its people have constantly said they see the UN as an out-of-date mechanism. When the UN gains such power to do its job in defending humanity, the US Government sees such power as an infringement on its sovereign right. This is a perfect example of selfish individual right over the collective right of all. Everyone knows the US is too arrogant to accept any kind of instructions from an outside entity, such as the UN. Yet there was a cry when the US was booted off of the UN Commission of Human Rights.

The United States non-involvement in the meeting created a "follow fashion monkey" vibe, where other nations who refused to accept responsibilities for their evils, chose the route most traveled. These governments improving their lack of will to stand up and create a better example that could stand in alliance with other sovereign countries who saw this meeting as a great opportunity to go forward, have now created more chaos. The distrust of the people against the US and Europe have risen 15 fold, for the people now have no choice than to realize the ills of humanity cannot be solved by the powerful nations. It now becomes an individual effort on every human being to force a poor people's globalization to combat the ignorance. Most should realize that history will tell the children in the future that their parents had a chance to correct and build, yet they threw it away for their own foolish gain.

How do Black Africans at home and abroad expect to keep preaching racial love and unity without being hypocrites? It is proven that Whites can have the most love when it is love given their way, accepted their way and done their way. How do we as Blacks deal with the terrible syndrome of "selling out?" When history will now say the highest ranking Black African American states he will not attend a conference in defense of his own ancestors that died to give him the authority to even play with such a government. The Rt. Hon. Marcus Mosiah Garvey and Carter G. Woodson has constantly warned us about these mis-educated Negroes parading themselves as leaders and intellectuals leading InI the people to be slaughtered. As well as the ignorant Negro who still has not realized that "laziness is still the sole breeder of poverty, sin, and discontent." Remember the less we know is the less we grow.

How can Africans at home find their way out of the darkness when its leaders constantly turn off the lights? Let it be known that there are also African leaders who put their tail between their legs and denied the Africans the right of justice. The Africans abroad and at home must now push by any means necessary with all the will of their heart to collectively walk themselves into their own destiny. Destroying the Black African made Organization of African Unity (OAU) to build a White faced African Unity Organization which sooner or later will be dominated by the same two slave masters of the Africans since history past.

The people of the world should realize that God is still a living man. When YOUR Almighty gives US the opportunity at such chances of mercy for humanity to correct itself and man uses such opportunities to further his own greed that the judgments to come are not far. All should be aware the sharks have come home to eat and the economy has surely taken a nosedive. H.I.M Emperor Haile Selassie I states that unemployment is the worst enemy to any government. The United States not only has a 5% unemployment rate and growing, but all should be aware 2/3 of the money that the government receives comes from consumer spending, in other words, it is the money that you and I spend in the economy of our colonial masters. The same people that refuses to say that they are guilty and apologize for stealing InI, killing InI, raping InI, brainwashing InI, and for still keeping InI in captivity.

Pharoah let INI people go for we will not live under the rule of wickedness and poverty, when we are commanded by the Almighty to return home and tend to our own vine and figtree where we can sing King RasTafarI's song in our homeland amongst our brothers and sisters, striving for perfect love. The final sound has been sounded, Bob Marley the Prophet states "In the last days, man have to listen to for the trumpet and its not a trumpet that will blow, but it is that man a go talk that His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I The First is Earth's Rightful Ruler."

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

Now that every human being and every nation has been touched mentally, physically, and spiritually by 'the worst man-made UN-natural disaster', will humans continue to turn their back wherever, whenever there is a human injustice?

September 11, 2001 represents many things to many people, as would any other day. For Ethiopians, it is the first day of Maskaram in the Ethiopian Year of 1994. In 1974, H.I.M Emperor Haile Selassie I allowed the people to rule themselves. In 1978, the peace treaty between Israel and Palestine was signed. Now another event has been added to the calendars around the world in 2001, human beings used other human beings to destroy more human beings.

The destruction has brought about changes and awakened humanity where warnings and the words of righteousness seemed to fall short. It has caused a society that only pursued vain thoughts to now be aware of the world that they have not only developed, but gives them a chance to now start fresh WITH humanity not against humanity. It took a plane to crash into a building and kill thousands of people for Hollywood to not only pull some of its upcoming movies, but to now have serious discussions about the content of their films. It has also caused television to pull some of its fall lineup and also do some soul searching. This event placed the World of Sports on the bench. The financial world, the engine that ran so hard and so fast, was derailed for at least 4 days and possibly more. The only other time the US financial markets have been closed were during the days of the Great Depression.

The world now has to deal with the aftershocks or the post era of world destruction. It is not only foolish, but suicidal for the world to follow such ignorant propaganda that Arab Muslims are the sole cause of such destruction. In reports that have been released about the so-called 'terrorists' there are questionable facts. It is strange that those hijackers are being portrayed as religious fanatics, yet it has been reported they were seen in alcoholic bars and strip joints. The skill it would take to maneuver a jumbo jet into a building at such a low altitude and angle would take much more than a year to learn in a flight school. History shows skilled Japanese military pilots used their planes to ram opposition military in the same manner. They were called Kamikaze pilots. The phone calls which were reportedly made by passengers on the hijacked planes never identified the nationality of the hijackers.

With an unclear understanding of the events and the clear shell shock that has beheld most of humanity, it is careless and wicked for the American government and its NATO allies to respond to unjust violence with more unjust violence. The talk of nuclear weapons as well as the sad truth that this is the first of many acts of individual violence cannot bring any type of final resolution beneficial to humanity on a whole. This means humanity is charged with the duty of making their voice heard and their action felt by demanding that the evil powers that want to continue an evil process are stopped and dismantled.

There is no one on the face of this Earth who claims to be a child of GOD and a human being that would want to see World War III. Especially when this war would be started against an unseen and unknown enemy who will retaliate with methods greater than most people's imagination. How could a world that before September 11, who strayed away from the Love of GOD, could now possibly expect a response to their weeping and wailing? Especially when they are taking the road of vengeance and not the road of correction.

The world has no choice but to realize the first step to recovery is to admit and accept responsibility for itself and its policies. The grounds where human beings of the world must unite and start anew should begin with the United Nations. Human beings of the Earth who seek to gain the grace of a loving GOD must refuse to ever again accept a society which chooses a cornerstone that builds a house of destruction. This generation has in its possession a unique opportunity to take possibly the worst act of mankind and create a greater mankind with a free love that has no limit.

JUSTICE?

As the people of the world prepare for "Operation Infinite Justice," many find the irony in America now crying for justice; especially when so many countries have made the word 'justice' a part of their everyday vocabulary when it comes to discussions about American foreign policies that terrorize other sovereign nations. It seems the people of the world have been frightened so terrible that they would ask America, that fathered terrorism, to now protect them from it. In the course of the people trying to hide from an unseen enemy, they have now come to embrace policies that will further downpress them. Humanity must remember that a master terrorizes the slave, where the slave revolts against the master.

As an example, Tom Ridge, the State Governor of Pennsylvania, has now become head of National Security, a new department added since September 11, 2001. He will have the power to enforce any domestic laws put down federally in the name of National Security. What does this mean for civil liberties? Destruction! That is proven by the racial profiling of Arab Muslims by all agencies since the destruction of the Towers and the people. What is more humorous about this situation is, people who work so hard to be seen as American citizens, in a turn of a day have become Public Enemy #1. It is tragic that only now does another race or nationality feel what Black people have been protesting against for so many years. It also proves the point that you can only be an American when you are in the position that is most feasible to America. Humanity should start to learn and grow from the present experience so the sufferings of humans anywhere and everywhere should be a painful experience to one and all.

This also stands for who America deems as a friend or foe. As President Bush clearly states, "Either you are with America or you are with the terrorists." This is hilarious coming from the people who trained every terrorist organization and enforced every brutal government for its own selfish gain. Many do not know that Afghanistan was used as the fighting ground between America and Russia, in which Russia was pushed out after 10 years of fighting. Afghanistan was also one of the leading producers of poppy plants used to make heroin. America and other super powers used this country and others like it and when finished, they left the people to suffer in their own destruction.

Humanity must realize that what America is trumpeting around the world as a wicked act, seems to be a part of a justice long overdue to the majority of poor people around the world who have lost an uncountable number of their Mommies, Daddies, Sisters, Brothers, and so on....... Americans should have cried out then what they are crying about now.

This false sense of patriotism that is being sold to them now will only lead them to make decisions that will bear no fruit, especially the Black population who make up a great part of the Armed Forces. Do these Blacks really want to go and fight against a people who have no war with them like they did in Vietnam? Many people are waving Red, White, and Blue flags now, when these are the same people who curse America everyday on the day. They claim to be united because of one tragedy. Yet, they have only become united to become a target of the world, when the truth is fully overstood; especially when America and its European nations had an opportunity to give humanity justice by admitting to its role in the slave trade and colonialism which it flatly turned down by not participating wholeheartedly in the UN Conference on Racism.

America now has to wait in line for justice as the rest of humanity has done for so long.
